Talia and Telesat Bring the First EMEA-Wide iDirect Evolution (DVB-S2) Network Online

Telstar 12 Satellite at Heart of Next-Generation Talia Service

LONDON, UK. -- 2008-09-15

Talia and Telesat are pleased to announce that Talia has acquired a large amount of capacity on Telesat's Telstar 12 satellite. Talia will use the capacity to host the first next-generation iDirect Evolution (DVB-S2) networks available in the Middle East and North Africa region.

'Telstar 12 is well-known as one of the best satellites for Middle Eastern and European services,' said Travis Mooney, Talia's Chief Operations Officer. 'DVB-S2 technologies vastly improve with higher power, and Telstar 12 allows us to provide excellent coverage throughout the entire Middle East, Europe, and the British Isles all within one footprint.'

Talia's Telstar 12-based iDirect Evolution service is the first launched into the Middle East and North African markets, and is designed to accommodate a large number of sites for corporate, NGO, government, military, and private customers. Talia already operates iDirect Infiniti networks in the Middle East and North Africa on a variety of satellites.

Telesat president and CEO, Dan Goldberg says, 'We’re pleased to be able to support Talia by providing the first capacity for their new iDirect Evolution service. Telstar 12 is a perfect solution for launching their service, which covers a vastly dispersed customer-base.'
